COVID Testing Policies for 2023-2024

Response Testing

Following the guidance of our medical advisors and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health – and subject to changes to Guidelines for COVID-19 Prevention in TK-12 Schools, LAUSD Unified will implement “response testing.”

Individuals experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or who have been in close contact with a person who has tested positive will be recommended to test. All testing will be conducted with take-home rapid antigen tests, which are available for students and employees at your school or worksite. All school campuses will also continue to monitor rapid antigen test results and notify individuals if they are a close contact with someone who has tested positive.

Return From Isolation

Employees and students who tested positive may end their isolation on Days 6-10, provided any symptoms are improving, and they have been fever-free for the past 24 hours without fever-reducing medication; individuals returning from isolation are recommended but not required to take a rapid antigen test before returning. Individuals who are released from isolation days 6-10 must continue to wear a highly protective mask at all times indoors and around others outdoors through Day 10 unless they have two sequential negative tests taken at least a day apart uploaded and approved in Daily Pass. Once approved, they may unmask the following day.

LAUSD BLACK STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAM

PARENT AND COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS

We need you! This is the process for parents and community members interested in volunteering at Uni High.

If a person does not have access to the necessary technology to complete the online volunteer application, the school will designate an employee to assist in completing and submitting the online application on the person’s behalf. Volunteers serving at more than one LAUSD school must have an approved online application for each school before they can begin service.

A waiver of liability is required to participate in on-campus volunteering in the Los Angeles Unified School District School Volunteer Program, showing agreement to the terms and release of liability. Volunteers are now required to submit proof of full COVID-19 vaccination in the LAUSD Daily Pass - https://dailypass.lausd.net

Once the online volunteer application is completed and submitted electronically, the application may be approved or denied by the site principal or the principal’s designee.

Online Application Review – submitted by the school/office

For Tier II and III Volunteers, the school/office must review (ensure required fields are completed) and approve or deny the online application for all individuals applying to become volunteers. The school principal/approver must verify and approve that the volunteer has met all requirements, including:

  • Completed application, printed and signed, kept on file
  • Approved application by the Office of Parent and Community Services
  • Signed Volunteer Commitment Form
  • Megan’s Law clearance through https://www.meganslaw.ca.gov
  • Tuberculosis test clearance through a medical provider
  • Fingerprinting (when applicable)
  • On-Campus volunteers have COVID-19 vaccination card uploaded on the LAUSD Daily Pass

See BUL - 6746.3 for more information.

Do you need to get fingerprinted?

If you plan on working directly with students (classroom, field trip, library, supervision etc) OR volunteering more than 16 hours a week, we need you to get fingerprinted through the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).  If you are only helping in the offices or parent center, you do not need to get fingerprinted.

LAUSD requires that you are fingerprinted in specific locations.
